Look in the Mirror explores the art of self-reflection.
I recently read about a study (Wilson et al., 2014) where people were asked to sit alone in an empty room for 15 minutes with no stimulation—just themselves and their thoughts—or press a button that delivered a mild electric shock. Many chose the shock.
That says something profound.
Stillness isn’t easy. It holds up a mirror; silence reveals what busyness conceals. Avoidance of stillness is often an avoidance of the self.
Challenges and pain don’t vanish when ignored—they find other ways to speak: in burnout, in projection. Introspection is how we interrupt that loop.
I believe that progress without active, defined reflection is like driving without a map. Too much reflection and nothing moves; too little and you wake up lost. But direction rooted in authenticity can only come from slowing down long enough to ask the deeper questions.
Our culture glorifies hustle, distraction, and curated identity.
But how comfortable are we, really, with ourselves?
With silence?
With stillness?
This piece invites you to sit with it.
